How we source a brake caliper for the Model S
Calipers for the Tesla Model S are matched on rotor diameter and mounting spacing. Regenerative braking does most of the slowing on these cars, so the friction brakes often have far less wear than the mileage suggests — which makes a used original a better bet than on a combustion car.
Tesla parts are matched to build date and to software. A unit from a different build window can be physically identical and refuse to communicate.

Do the calipers come as a pair?
They are quoted individually unless you ask for a pair. Front and rear, left and right are four different part numbers on most vehicles.
What if the piston is corroded?
Then it is described as needing a rebuild and priced accordingly. You can fit a rebuild kit, or we can look for a cleaner unit.
Can I upgrade to larger calipers?
Only with the matching discs, carriers and often a different master cylinder. We quote the standard package for your VIN unless you tell us otherwise.
