How we source a fuel injector for the IS 300
Fuel injectors for the Lexus IS 300 are matched on part number and on the calibration code etched on each body. On common-rail diesels that code has to be written into the ECU, and an injector without it is difficult to make run correctly.
Lexus shares platforms with Toyota but not part numbers. An LX and a Land Cruiser may look alike underneath, and the electronics usually differ — we match on the Lexus number, not the Toyota one.
We do not hold stock and quote from a shelf — units are located after you send the VIN, which is why the price you get is for your vehicle rather than for an average one. If nothing suitable is available at the time, we say so instead of quoting a unit that will not fit.

Do injectors have to be coded?
Common-rail diesel injectors almost always do — each carries a correction value the ECU uses for fuelling. Petrol injectors usually do not. We photograph the code so the workshop can enter it.
Petrol and diesel injectors — will the same part fit?
No, they are entirely different components operating at different pressures. The fuel type and engine code decide what we quote.
Can I replace just one injector?
You can, and we supply singles. On a high-mileage engine the others are often close behind, so it is worth asking whether a matched set is better value before deciding.
