How we source a door for the 5 Series
Original BMW 5 Series doors from donor vehicles, with the glass, motor, mirror and door card listed as included or excluded so there is no surprise at the workshop.
BMW's part numbering is precise and unforgiving — a unit from a different production series will not fit. We read the eleven-digit number before anything else.
We do not hold stock and quote from a shelf — units are located after you send the VIN, which is why the price you get is for your vehicle rather than for an average one. If nothing suitable is available at the time, we say so instead of quoting a unit that will not fit.
What we check before we quote
- Paint code read from your VIN plate and compared with the donor's, not guessed from a photo.
- Dents, filler and previous repair identified under light and described plainly.
- Glass, regulator, motor, mirror and door card listed individually as included or not.
- Hinge and check-strap condition reported, including any sag or creak.

Questions buyers ask about this part
Will the paint match exactly?
The code will, the shade may not. Paint fades with sun and age, so a used door usually needs blending into the adjacent panels. We give you the donor's code and your painter decides what to do with it.
Does the door come with glass and the window motor?
Stated per unit. Many donors arrive complete and we leave them complete; some arrive stripped. Either way the listing says exactly what is inside the crate.
How is a door shipped internationally?
Crated and braced on a pallet, because a door is bulky and easy to crease. Freight is charged on volume rather than weight, and it is quoted separately from the part.
